With the hall nearly ready for all to come through the doors, and the Duo for tonight arrived and set up with plenty of time to spare, all that was left for me to do was to welcome all to the Club and then bring on stage the 2/’s who are KALIBRE and off they went with “ When You Leave That Way”, “Hanging On” and “Birmingham Turn Around”. Then KALIBRE said we are “Much To Young To Feel That Damb Old” along with “There Stands The Glass” and “Poor Boy Blues”, and they closed the spot with a couple of Buddy Holly number “Think It Over” along with “Raining In My Heart”
Time for a break when I got the “WHATS on LIST”, this done and dusted it was time for me for the second time tonight to bring back KALIBRE and “Ace In The Hole along with “This Is Where The Cowboy Ride Away” then onto “Walk On By” with all in the hall doing their bit, then along came the Drifters hit “Save The Last Dance For Me” BOBBY then said “Tonight We Just Might Fall In Love Again” and BOB then played “Misty” then along came “Heartaches By The Numbers” as well as “Hardrock Bottom Of Your Heart” then we were off to “Amerillo By Morning” and the number that closed the spot was “Sing Me Back Home”.
During the next break CHRIS comes down to the stage and helps me do the “RAFFLE DRAW” with PAM and SUE keeping watch on the Prize Table, this done time to have a natter with some of the people in the hall, and at 9-15 for the final time tonight I introduced to all KALIBRE who started with “All The Way With You” onto “the First Part Of Texas” on then to “Bye, Bye Love” the next number was “Chase Each Other Round The Room Tonight” this was for PETE and JOAN, then KALIBRE moved onto “Driving My Life Away” then we were all off to the “Trail Of Tears” BOBBY then said “Stop The World And Let Me Off” and it was “Gipsy Queen” that closed the show, but know as all in the hall were on their feet shouting for more so one more KALIBRE did which was “That’s The Way Love Goes” which was the final number of what had been a Superb night of LIVE COUNTRY MUSIC put on by BOB and BOBBY, on one side of the stage BOBBY who has a great Country voice and all night long you heard every word he sang, and on the other sider of the stage BOB I think all has been said about him by other people, but in my humble opinion he is the best Pedal Steel player on the Country Scene, overall BOBBY and BOB gave us all a Superb night, if you add to all that two numbers that for me were class the first as BOBBY sang “Old Pair Of Shoes” and when BOB played “Dark Island” both were Superb, thank you the 2/’s, and tonight I did something I did not think I would ever do as I have known KALIBRE for many years, and for me to introduce them to all in the Hall, made me a very happy man.
Robin who has been coming to the Club for a very long time and run Charity Nights wanted to say a few words, he wanted to thank “THE GANG” for taking over the Club to try and keep it running so to PAM, SUE,CHRIS and PHIL, there was a “BIG THANK YOU” for all the work we all put in at the Club, and as I said to all in the Hall it is “YOUR CLUB” all we do is a little as you have been putting your “BUMS on the SEATS” and that is what will keep the Club running. It was good to see PETE and JOAN who had their own Club at Medstead, RUTH and the ROFFEY crowd, SUE and MARTIN and their Friends and a couple from Aldershot. Not forgetting JAN and ROGER from the GOLDEN SPURS in Sussex.
Next show February 17th with DANIEL BERRY come and join us.
