Manston Report - 16th June 2017
Tonight I headed off to the MANSTON C.M.C. and it was a long time ago when I was last there, the reason for going was to see a lady who I saw at Lakeside a couple of years back and I was impressed on that day. Before the show started she went round the hall checking on what all in the hall wanted to hear, while this was going on MALCOLM played music for the dancers then he put on his other hat and for the first time tonight brought on stage AMY MORGAN starting with "That's How I Got To Memphis" and moved onto "Neon Moon" then it was "I Just Wanna Dance With You" and we were all under the "Big Blue Tree" with the "First Fool In Line" who had a "One Way Ticket To The Blues" then he did the "West Texas Waltz" and then had a "Girl Crush" and closed the spot with "Tonight The Bottle Let Me Down"
During the break MALCOLM kept the Dancers on the floor as he played more music for them, then a change of compare as
ANN took over and introduced AMY to all in the hall and during the next two spots she did a very good mix of numbers and keep all in the hall happy and the dancers on the floor with numbers like "Stand By Your Man" and the ever popular "Tempted" to "Lay Low" and watch the "Disappearing Tail Lights" that were heading off to some "Places" where along came the "Gipsy Queen" who said lets take a "Little Love Trip" before we go "One Step Forward" to do the "Triple Mix" so we can "Lay Down And Dance" . Amy also sang "Come Dance With Me" and "This Is Me Missing You", compare ANN asked for two more and these were "Closer along with "Missing",. There were a few numbers that stood out for me tonight "What Part Of No Don't You Understand" also there was "If The Devil Don't Want Me" and AMY changed the words as she sang "Some Guys Do, Some Guys Won't" and a very good version of "Blue Rose Is" but for me it was "Children" that stole the show for me. Amy had a seven and a half hour drive down from "Up North" and was driving back to Huddersfield that night, AMY put on a brilliant night of LIVE COUNTRY MUSIC at the MANSTON C.M.C. which is well worth a visit if you are in the area. There is a Bar and you can get Tea and Coffee and also you can order Rolls when you go in.
